I put this photo up on Instagram just now. It is of Sally and Jo, two old friends going back to when my workshop was in town at Walcot Reclamation almost 23 years ago. It was taken at the funeral of our friend James, who died at the age of 57. Their heads are artworks.
I saw faces I have not seen for many years yesterday, and we all have one thing in common. We have aged. The very last original buildings in Walcot Yard have now been demolished and the last bit to go is now sprouting a hideous modern structure. Things have to change, but some people's idea of 'better' is different than others. It's all down to money and survival as usual.
Sally, Jo and I are meeting up some time in early 2023. That's something to look forward to...
I am envious of the hair that your friends have, non aging. Exuberant curls. Without change there is no work of course..
ReplyDeleteThose curls are natural. The colour has had a little help...
DeleteYes that is so, we have aged. My hair is more Mia Farrow at present.
ReplyDeleteRosemary's Baby?
DeleteMake the most of them Tom, and others in your life, I’ve had a particularly hard week of deaths and illnesses , and I’m sick of it
ReplyDeleteI have just found this. I looked for it ages ago but it has only just turned up in spam.
DeleteI’ve been spamed
ReplyDeleteSpamed?
DeleteSally and Jo have great smiles and beautiful curls. Good friends are invaluable. Meeting up in January should be good fun.
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteOld friends are the best friends. Cherish them.
ReplyDeleteI'll try.
