Clean sweep

In the heady, care-free days when Jeremy Corbyn was Leader of the Opposition, I remember at least one refreshingly simple-minded voter saying that he hoped that Corbyn would continue in the role for many years to come, because that would guarantee that the Labour party would never get anywhere near Downing Street.

Now Boris Johnson is doing the same thing to the Conservative party, but the difference is that I do actually care if he brings down the Tories at the same time as everything else, because the net result of all this affects us all for years to come. We need (but I am not sure deserve) a sound government with a sound opposition, but when was the last time you saw either?

The Tories need to show a bit of backbone and get rid of Boris. He is much worse than a distraction and they must know by now that he is a serial and unrepentant liar. They have been told over and over again, but they are so incompetent that they think that if they save him they will save their jobs.

  1. I am told Boris will not be eliminated until a viable replacement
is identified. Does this have any merit?

    1. It has merit now since a couple of cabinet ministers resigned. They are throwing their hats in.

  2. It's horrible to think but England is a Tory country. There's only been 13 years of Labour governments in the last forty years.

    1. Tony Blair was taking up where Thatcher left off. Difficult to tell the ideologists from the power-hungry now.

  3. Two cabinet ministers showing some backbone. Is this the beginning of the end?

  5. Today I cancelled the subscription of my daily newspaper.
It made me sick in the morning to read about so many lies in many countries, so much banter, paid by us taxpayers, and the feeling that I cannot change much (I vote, yes). I will stay informed by a good Sundaynewspaper, and that is enough for me at the moment. I'm tired, and I do not want to outspend my strength for imposters, conmen and con*women.
I'll use the time won to reread George Orwell's Animal Farm instead.

    1. Up until now, anyone accusing B.J. of being the lying, unscrupulous delinquent that he is has been accused themselves of dragging the reputation of the UK down in the eyes of the world by all his stupid loyal supporters. We were 'unpatriotic', apparently. As usual with this government and its supporters, the exact opposite is the truth.

  8. Goodness. Things are looking pretty unstable for your Boris. It gives me hope to see people saying outright "You know, this is a lie and I'm not going to be party to it anymore." Perhaps the GOP will take note in my country.

  9. To think that the reason that the present chancellor is in, is because he threatened to resign from the cabinet...
