Must try harder

What do you think of the new header? I discovered that blogger doesn't make allowances for the size of the image, you have to adjust it yourself with guesswork. This explains the stunning vista on Weave's blog. It is great for landscapes, but not too good for faces, or parts thereof.

This is a school photo - my first, I think. I was 5 years old and dreaming of something else, as usual. 'Must try harder' was always in the reports somewhere.

What I have to do now is make it mobile-friendly, but I am going to save that for another day. I may also set the clock to something other than Los Angeles time if I have the energy. It is hard doing this stuff when you don't really know what you are doing.

  1. This post doesn't show up in my reading list. Your last post is the Banter one. You have no time at all now, LA or London, so I can't even count up on my fingers when you published. I liked your original header best.

  3. Well maybe I will revert. I wish I had never pressed that button.

  4. Wouldn't like trying to stare him out. It probably is mobile-friendly with the phone turned sideways. Can't check. Haven't got one.

  5. Blogger has just reconvened the whole format for me. Anyone else? Not sure I like change ...

    1. You're young enough to embrace change. Have a thought for all us old fuckers.

  6. I like your new header picture. Brave man for getting to grips with new blogger. It's too much of a palaver for me, I might give up if the old format is taken from me, I simply haven't got the time to grapple with it.

    1. Well I hate to repeat myself, but this issue has nothing to do with the new blogger. It is all to do with me changing the old format in themes.

    2. Oh well in that case....self inflicted!

    3. If there is any blame attached to this, I took it like a man some time ago.

  7. I like this simple blogger format. It reminds me of a format I used about six years ago when I wrote a blog

    1. I only ever left 'simple' once by accident. It is not so simple to say your sorry and slink back home.

  8. I am rather pleased with myself because I have actually changed the time on my new Dell laptop - a small thing I know but I easily go into meltdown.

  9. It takes a lot of courage to make changes. Like for example changing the clock in a car from winter clock to summer clock . I have never been able to do that.I always find a kid who will do it.

    1. I wish I could find a kid to change the clock in my car. It only goes forward by the second, so I have to go through 24 hours of seconds each year. Usually I don't bother.

    1. Some people don't like eyes depicted like this. Burglars and Catholics hate them, for instance.

  11. Or you can quietly continue tweaking until you are satisfied.

  12. I can't see it all as the persistant invitation to accept cookies is covering up the top of your page! Have you changed the name of the blog as well?

    1. Weird ... not getting that cookie announcement in Australia, just 5 year old Tom's rather unnerving stare.

    2. No, as far as I know I am still called Tom Stephenson in my fantasy world. You get cookies popping up? Something is very wrong if you are. I would suggest you go to settings and block them. Re my stare, I will - by popular demand - change the header photo to something less confrontational, like a load of men preparing to bomb the shit out of Germany, for instance.

  13. This post is now obsolete, apart from the bit about making it mobile friendly.
