Enter my tent and have a fig or two

This little cream jug was part of a larger service from the childhood house of H.I. in Sheffield. I last used it for mint sauce.

It was probably staring at the service as a kid which gave her the life-long love of the palm trees which have featured so heavily in her paintings over the years. She's very fond of Arabs too.

There used to be a whole genre of decoration and decor in the Arabian theme. There were Hollywood sheiks who had their wicked way with any woman they pleased, they were so dashing, exotic and romantic. Fry's used them to sell Turkish Delight.

Prior to 9/11, many women found the wealthy Osama bin Laden very attractive...

    1. There were a few. I worked with one of them in the Marley Tile factory in Cambridge once. He was a twat.

  6. Fantastic jug. I can imagine being a child, looking at that exotic scene and dreaming of faraway places and people.

  7. I love the jug but it does look rather large for mint sauce unless you intend to feed an army.

    1. It's only about 3 inches high Weave, but the photo makes it look bigger.

  8. I'm glad you put it into perspective. My mother used to collect pitchers of that size, and they were mostly charming.
