When it is worn by a child in the 1950s, although some people might disagree. Ever since I became an adult, I have had an extreme aversion to two sartorial defects: long trousers which are too short (I always had my brother's cast-offs) and pointy collars which are not tucked into the top of a jumper.
Oh, and I have always hated parting my hair too. I have not combed or even brushed my hair for over 50 years.
I can remember my first pair of longs; they were bought 'to grow in to'. Far too long, and too big a waist. Even so, I was very proud of them!
ReplyDeleteWith legs like mine, I couldn't wait.
DeleteI think you are a little smasher here - presuming it is you.
ReplyDeleteI was a dreamy kid.
DeleteI hate long trousers that are too short, and sleeves that are too short. "But that's fashion!" a salesperson twitters. "I am tall and it looks as if I grew out of it!" I say.
ReplyDeleteAnd: I hate dresses or pullovers that are too wide. Why should I wear them?
And I hate when they snip my fringe too short (even two millimeters cut off might be too short).
Yes - I even hate the women's trousers which are deliberately cut above the ankle. It is a throwback, I think.
DeleteFunny what we take with us through our life, I hate the colour maroon for clothes as it reminds me of school uniform.

Maroon is a colour which should never be used in large areas for clothes, uniforms or otherwise.
DeleteTom, that is a charming picture.
ReplyDeleteI've now gotten caught up on most of your blog posts that I'd missed. I left a a longer comment on the Brown Fields post.
Hoping now to stay a bit more up to date with blogs I so enjoy reading, like yours.
I'll go and have a look Frances.
DeleteI don't have any hair but I brush it every morning.
ReplyDeletePolish it?
DeleteYour a handsome young boy. Having cury, easily frizzy, I try and only use a pic while my hair is wet only brushing once a day.
ReplyDeleteMuch has changed in the intervening years since that photo was taken, but I still have lots of hair.
DeleteThat's a very enigmatic smile.
