I am wondering how I missed Hendrix at the Bath Pavilion in 1970 something, or Les Beatles in 1960 something. Thanks to my mate Daniel (Bath in Time) for the photos.
I saw Hendrix in the 60's in Leicester, and the Beach Boys, and The Who - missed The Beatles even though we queued all night. Saw the Stones too although we couldn't hear anything for all the screaming girlies.
I missed the Sex Pistols in Cornwall in 77. They were billed as the Spots so they wouldn't get banned. Still kicking myself. Caught up with John since though.
I saw the Pretty Things at the Mersey View. They were late as there had a been a 'bit of a brawl' somewhere. I can't remember much about it. I think I was into rum and peps at the time.
Nor did I see either of them. Lady M did see Hendrix in Brighton, and I became quite friendly with Paul McCartney, but otherwise a big oversight.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had one of the fab four as a mate.
DeleteYou were in the Fens at the time with a woman so you missed him.
ReplyDeleteI saw Hendrix in Norwich at the Orford Cellar circa 1968.
I was in the Fens with Brian Eno's ex-wife!

ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing anyone, but Ian Dury lent me his flat in Canterbury once - does that count?
DeleteDarling Tom,
ReplyDeleteIs it heresy to say that we did not see Jimi Hendrix and had no wish to?!
Beatles, Rolling Stones and Marlene Dietrich........we did see them.......our heroes!
Not from you two it isn't. I can't imagine either of you wandering around off your heads on acid.
DeleteDarling Tom,
Delete......,and we thought that you are a creative type! Just no imagination.......xxxxx
I need photographic evidence.

ReplyDeleteMy biggest regret was missing the launch of a space shuttle in Florida. I had a day off work, and I managed to sleep through the whole thing.

ReplyDeleteI saw Rum and Peps at the Lyceum once.
DeleteMy daughter bought me a tacky fridge magnet that says... "I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands". She's jealous.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to Shawaddywaddy?
