Getting on with our lives

I love this photo of H.I. from last year and it will soon be bluebell time again, so I am using it now. The most pleasing of my photos of her often seem to have her standing on a curved path and walking away from the camera.

I heard this morning that a lot of Jewish people are avoiding the middle of London at weekends, when demonstrations in support of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are being held. We can thank Suella Braverman and The Evening Standard for deliberately spreading fear and disunity in Britain. We are being lied to again.

There is no more anti Semitism in England now than there ever was, but a few stupid and nasty people feel they can openly give vent to their racism thanks to other people's reaction to Netanyahu's determination to stay in power by prolonging the disgraceful war until he crosses a red line which has yet to be drawn. This was never ever about Jews versus Arabs. It has always been about Israel versus Hamas. All is not fair in love and war.

Putin is loving all this.

  2. In the US University leaders are being held to account when there are on- campus peaceful protests about the war. The humanitarian crisis continues. Biden is going to build a port to improve getting food and supplies to innocent people that continue to die in great numbers. That is a great photo of HI walking a path in a beautiful woodland area.

    1. Our universities tear down posters advertising protests. Everyone - including the BBC - is scared of losing government funding. 126 small bags of food have been dropped into Gaza by - mainly - Jordanian aircraft, but they need about 150 trucks a day to cope. The ports will take 2 months to set up, and 1000s more children will starve. Biden has just authorised millions of $ worth of more arms for Israel and a couple of ports for supplies to Gaza. There are elections due in both of our countries and that seems to be all they care about. I fear for the hostages as much as I fear for the citizens. How can Hamas account for all of them in that situation?

    2. I also fear for the hostages but continuing the war does work in favor for the hostages. Stalemate is not good for anyone. More than 30,000 Palestinians have died in this war. Of the 30,000 how many were Hamas?

  4. You cannot change the world Tom, only despair. Think you said last year that was West Wood in which H.I. is caught wandering along the path. Well when you go again, take tea at Polly Tearoom with HI and indulge with a cream topped scone.

    1. Actually that little wood is close to South Wraxall, but I would like tea and cakes in Polly's anyway.

  6. That's a lovely picture.

Everyone talks about Navalny, and how best to avenge his death at the hands of Russia. You know, the man went back to Russia knowing the fate that awaited him. He willingly look it on for love of country and to highlight the brutality of the regime. The best way to honor Navalny is to simply acknowledge the fact that Putin is ruthless, a liar, a murderer. If we want to honor Navalny, we ignore Putin and turn our attention to Ukraine.

That being said, Netanyahu is cut from the same cloth. We need to ignore him (and the nonsense of about antisemitism) and turn our attention to Gaza.

There was a protest in the United States the other day. A Jew held a sign which read, "All Jews know that genocide is wrong".

    1. It is difficult to ignore either of them.

    2. Ignoring was probably the wrong word. Turn our attention to those who need our attention was more what I meant.

  7. I cannot bear to even think about the war Tom, coward that I am. So just to say H I among the bluebells is beautiful (both HI and flowers).

  9. There is a lot of confusion in Germany as well as here and in the US. The hair stands out in that picture. I like the path leading us in.

    1. Because of past history, Germany is scared of being accused of not supporting Israel. It is the same problem we all have but on a national scale. Like I said, it has little to do with Jews versus Arabs.
Tourists often ask to take photographs of us together. It's the hair.

  10. With that beautiful, beautiful hair, and the slim figure of H.I. you paint a fascinating picture of her. Looking over the soft powdery bluebells into wide woods, fresh leaves on the trees above and in front of her - I am enchanted!
