I've been busy setting up a new Mac. What you see here is the easy bit - transferring everything from the old to the new. You just sit around for a few hours and it magically flies through the airwaves.
The more demanding bit is setting all your passwords and usernames again. Even if you have written them all down, you will still tear your hair out.
It will all be over - hopefully - in a few days...
Like magic
ReplyDeleteThat's what Mac call it.
DeleteGood luck with the passwords.
ReplyDeleteIt's a long process.
DeleteDoing this is so wearisome. As reading manuals, jotting down (and finding again) passwords. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteUs men do something first and read the manual afterwards.
DeleteMe too!
DeleteA nightmare! I cheat. I have a brother to help with all that...the tech stuff is beyond me!!
ReplyDeleteI used to employ a techie friend, but now it is all down to me and Apple helpers.
DeleteI'm going to buy a new computer as well, I see you got the 24 inch screen. Think my choice as far as cash is concerned is a tower with a bigger screen and not another laptop. Have they fished that car out of the Francis Hotel area yet?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the car until you mentioned it. A 19 year-old drunk driver with friend. Nobody badly hurt. I didn't hear a thing...
DeleteGood luck Tom. My PC is about 7 years old now and still runs Windows 7 (which Microsoft on longer supports). But it soldiers on OK (fingers crossed) so I am hoping it will manage to outlast me (I am 84 and still operate on the equivalent of Windows minus 10!)
ReplyDeleteThis latest will outlast me. We use it for everything - TV, films, radio, word processing, etc. etc.
DeleteI couldn't do that. Luckily I found a local computer expert. I bought a computer from him that he built. He did all the moving stuff over, amazingly quick, at his house.
ReplyDeleteHe built his own computer? He must know what he is doing then.
DeleteYes, he is good with anything electronic. He builds radio controlled model boats, and model aircraft. Also into classic cars. He is getting on a bit, I just hope he keeps going.
DeleteYou are brave to take this on. I have no patients for this task.
ReplyDeleteJohn Gray is the one with the patients.
DeleteI use a secure password manager for passwords now - Lastpass is very good.
ReplyDeleteRe. your comment (unpublished) on my blog - ...you are Pat's son aren't you?.... Sorry not me.
Sorry. As soon as I pressed the button I thought it was the wrong one.
DeleteIt takes time but it's well worth it.
ReplyDeletehugs

It will be the last we get.
