Dr Strangelove

China is going nuts, Biden's own administration are going nuts - maybe Trump had a point when he called him Sleepy Joe.

What have we done to deserve these world leaders? Is it just a Nostradamus-type thing over which we have no control?

We have mobile phones and the internet, but we are still in the 17th century. Lots of old men sending younger ones in to fight-out their childhood ambitions, humiliations and disappointments.

The trouble is that everyone else has to suffer as well. Everyone.

  3. And now our former president, who dodged the military service in his youth and wouldn't even walk with his insurrection to the Capitol Building is advocating a new Civil War. You can't make up this shit.

    1. That is taking divisiveness to another level.

  4. I think it is called 'distraction tactics' Joanne. Biden is definitely too old to run a country and our middle aged Johnson is also a liability. Would younger leaders be any better though. Paul always said the Chinese would take over Taiwan in the end, it was inevitable.

    1. People say that it is time we forgot about partygate and concentrate on real problems, but partygate is extremely important. It is one of many things which illustrate Boris Johnson's utter disregard for Parliament and the truth. We don't want people like him running the country when there is a real possibility of WW3. He couldn't even get Brexit right.

    2. ... but, as you say, who would make a better job of it? Probably anyone other than him.

  5. Proof of Chinese human rights abuses has just surfaced in the Western media via the BBC, and I cannot help but be reminded how Tony Blair was contractually obliged to push the U.S. version of the truth about Saddam Hussein developing Weapons of Mass Destruction in order to justify the invasion of Iraq. Unlike the WMDs, I believe that Chinese muslims are being stamped on, but I wonder about the timing of the emergence of evidence. The perfect storm could become the perfect maelstrom.

  6. I have a Chinese friend who says the older generation revere the present leader but the young are desperate for change.

    1. That reminds of all those young people waving little red books around and beating up shopkeepers for being capitalists.

  7. Turmoil everywhere. Turkey objects to Sweden and Finland joining NATO. Maybe Turkey should be removed from NATO? China and Taiwan are on a slow simmer. Ukraine and Russia are locked in war. Leadership is not ideal but what/who is the better alternative?
