Idiots or patriots?

If anyone thinks that it is far-fetched to compare the rule of Boris Johnson with that of Donald Trump, just consider what happened today, when the Leader of the Opposition had to be bundled into a police van for his own protection after Johnson had accused him of deliberately taking no action against an infamous paedophile - Jimmy Saville -  and mentally imbalanced (or worse - supporters of Boris) people attacked Keir Starmer in the same way they attacked a paediatric nurse some years ago, just because they were virtually illiterate.

And if anyone wonders what is meant by a 'popularist' government, now you know, unless you are so thick that you never will.

  1. The incident made our news, though it usually does. One side or the other or both love the opportunity.

  3. Give mob something to put their teeth in ... things happen you wouldn't have dreamed of - but then: see times when people sat around a guillotine, cheering when a head rolled down, eating their picnic...I think there's not much new under the sun, except the clothes the actors appear in.

    1. A period of reversion? When our PM disobeys his own rules it is bad.

    2. Oh, I did not think of Boris as Marie Antoinette :-) I do not pity him.

  4. Scary stuff. Looking at the thinking of some people. Except they don't think, they are ignorant. They are calling the original statement by Johnson as 'Trumpian' which could mean a delaying/diverting tactic by him.
Anything to get him off the hook he now so perilously hangs from...

    1. He even said it would take a tank battalion to remove him from Downing Street the other day. Who does that remind you of?

  6. How long before someone throws acid or uses a gun? Someone killed or hurt by some nutjob with far right delusions, whipped up into a violent frenzy by the hate speech of politicians. Jo Cox all over again.

  7. There is a fine line between patriots and idiots. Let's not omit smoke and mirrors too. All part of the travails of life today.

    1. It would not surprise me if the rabble who cornered Starmer were planted, but my paranoia levels have increased somewhat over the last couple of years.

  8. Always thought they might have been cloned by the same madman. Hopefully, the both of them are soon done with; made an example of, and out of the news. Unbelievable!! from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine.

    1. Trump is out of the news to a certain extent, but he will be back. He recently encouraged the rioters in Ottowa. (Funny that the American spell-check does not know the correct spelling of Canadian cities.)

  9. Awful stuff. Incidentally, the initials 'B' and 'J' over here also stand for 'blow job'.
