Ambushed by a cake

  1. Starting the met investigation now is a world class move. I suspect they had it planned all along. Now, all is on hold again until the met decide whether any crime was committed, and hard to explain evidence in the Gray report can be held back. Then, if the met in due course say simply that no further action is to be taken, that lets them all off the hook and is the end of the matter. How do you think Ms Dick has managed to keep her job for so long, despite all the mess ups? Absolutely first rate operaters.

    2. I am on tenterhooks about the publication. Say what you will about Cummings, he is a master of suspense.

  2. I no longer believe any of them - I alwways thought at least some of them were honest men with a sense of duty and a love of country - now I am afraid I no longer think that.

    3. I tend to agree with you, Weaver. That's why Ive stopped voting altogether. In Australia, it's compulsory - so I just go and scribble on the voting paper!

    5. I think if it were compulsory here there would be a lot more survivalists living in the hills.

  3. Another example of how so many people in high places are just taking no consequences, in my eyes have no honour - just a big pig feeding trough in front of them. Worldwide.

  5. I can't see what is so difficult...if there is cake and the rest....it's a party.
The unfortunate time consumer now is that any evidence found now has to be repeated to the police under oath....

    1. Boris is quite willing to ignore the very many difficult jobs in hand for the sake of cake and his political future.

  6. Wait till he pulls Peppa Pig out of the bag again! I have been meaning to look up the term 'The Establishment' this is when they all pull together to save their skins.

    1. I genuinely believe he lost his marbles with the Peppa Pig episode.

  7. People in powerful positions feel they have carte blanche. Accountability is not often upheld. When this happens repeatedly, the message is: feel free.

    1. The recent changing of the rules to make mask-wearing a matter of choice is one of Boris Johnson's many attempts to appeal to the lowest common denominator. That's what people like him do to save their jobs.

  8. I just read an article yesterday and said, "Aha! So that's what Tom meant about being ambushed by a cake!" I had no idea when you first posted it!

I'd like to be ambushed by a cake. Preferable yellow sponge with chocolate icing. :)

    1. I miss seed cake. The seeds were caraway. Not too sweet.

    2. They still have seed cake (of sorts) here although it is made with cornmeal instead of flour. I love it!
