Happy?

The Post Office has been running down this national institution for years, and the last massive scandal was when - through their own crap IT system - they accused hundreds of ordinary Post Masters of embezzlement and fraud, prosecuting them and sending many of them to prison as well as ruining the lives of many others.

Well, now The Post Office say that they cannot afford to pay compensation to all those wronged people and the government - in other words you - are going to foot the bill to go some way to make amends.

All those executives who draw massive salaries will continue to enjoy the life style they have become accustomed to for the last 30 years or more, but they disgust me, I don't know about you.

    1. This government would never sue big business. I think you know why not.

    2. Vennells went into the church after she resigned and when they found out how evil she had been to the postmasters they sacked her, kicked her out. Even the church couldn't forgive her. I am repesting myself because I have told this before.

    3. I see she earned £4.5M. She is currently in hiding. She should be put on trial and locked up and her house sold. To say she disgusts me is an understatement

    4. Fujitsu have got away with it by the looks of things.

  2. Something is very wrong, when highly paid executives get away with criminal acts. Clearly, said executives, have no conscious nor ethics. When executives get away with criminal acts, it also sends a message: 1. If I can do this, so can you and 2. Nobody is held accountable for wrong doing. What is the world coming to?

  3. Awful.
All those companies that plead poverty yet still pay the executive salaries and bonuses.
Why can't they be like JL? Staff are partners and if they can't afford a bonus, no-one gets one from the top down

  4. Did no one at the Post Office not wonder why so many of their employees had suddenly decided to steal money from the hand that fed them? This makes me furious! They might have expected a few bad apples over the years, but hundreds all at once ...? Many lives were ruined and some ended in suicide.

  5. It was trial by computer! Whether the PO pays or the government it still comes from us. The Chinese have a saying "In the final analysis wool comes from the sheep".

Because its a "Corporation" no one individual could be held responsible - the whole damn lot should have been collectively and individually sued, chucked out and made to pay the compensation

  6. Its a shameful story, seems like a double injustice that so many peoples lives are ruined and then those responsible are not accountable. Its also a disgrace this has taken years and years, perhaps we need an enquiry that will cost millions, take another 10 years and achieve nothing.

  7. "Because its a "Corporation" no one individual could be held responsible" writes Avis above - I do agree and add: "no one individual FEELS RESPONSIBLE". No shame when someone made an awful mistake - politicians don't leave, if CEOs have to leave: they get a gratuity - at least in Germany...

  8. I know a local postmaster who lost everything - business, house, savings, pension, marriage. How can that be compensated?
