Bad day for patriots

There is no getting away from it. Cro got it right. China is poised to replace the USA as the world's foremost superpower. Britain had its day about 100 years ago. America has squandered any goodwill left over from 9/11 and the War Against Terror and simultaneously lost so much respect in the eyes of what is left of the Free World, that it will not be too long before more dust bowls begin swirling around again. Putin must be loving all this.

Oh well, if we look far back in world history it tends to repeat itself, but nobody looks far enough back to learn any lessons. In the case of Afghanistan, nobody even looked as far back as the Russian invasion.

Dominic Raab was suspiciously sun-tanned when he said that he had been beavering away in a Cretan hotel and not lying around on the beach whilst refusing to cut his holiday short to come back to Westminster and discuss the gathering storm. Poor man. He wanted his life back after a year or so of Covid crisis management. His current statement boils down to, 'Haven't we done a good job?!'
