Explain this please

This happened a couple of hundred yards from where I live the other day. The driver was lucky to pick a spot where a thick reinforcing strut is attached to the wall. That kept the car almost horizontal. Recently I see accidents which I cannot find a sensible cause for. Maybe Tiger Woods was driving.

  1. It would be interesting to know, just so as we can avoid the same ourselves!

    1. Braked hard to avoid a pigeon when the wheels were turned to one side.

    2. I can't imagine anyone liking pigeons quite that much.

  2. Hooligans took the handbrake off and pushed it into the wall. That's my explanation and I am sticking to it.

  3. WOW ! ! ! That is a wrought iron fence, isn't it, Tom? Never seen anything like it and don't want to again. Wonder how the driver is. Take care.

    1. I am sure the driver survived unless he had a heart attack at the wheel. Yes, it is iron railings set into stone bases.

    1. Well, the car should have been turning right to go round a large and spacious roundabout with a fountain in the middle. This car took a sharp left. Very sharp.

    1. Could be. Some years ago an Australian tourist was killed by an elderly driver who hit the accelerator rather than the brake. The poor victim was torn to bits against the iron railings.

  7. If there wasn't photographic evidence, I would not believe it.

  8. Right through the wrought iron fencing and into the building. Something is up with the driver? Will something appear in your local newspaper describing this accident? Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. Our local newspaper is absolutely useless at giving out news. It cares more about Bath Rugby, property and advertising revenue.

  9. Is that the driver there, in the grey shirt, talking to police? If he braked hard with the wheels turned, he needed to return to the gas pedal to drive up a wall!
    Answer tomorrow?

    1. I don't know who is in the photo, apart from the firefighters and police. He took that fence pretty much square-on. That is why I am confused. Maybe I will visit the site today and make my own theories up.

  10. Far out that car is in remarkably good nick given it just knocked out that fence!
