Yesterday's post

I took down yesterday's post because I heard Greg Clarke's whole address to the parliamentary committee this morning, and it was an accumulation of crass gaffs (for which he is famous apparently) in an area where he supposed to be highly sensitive to the issues. He was - after all - chairman of the F.A. at a time when the whole world of sport is trying to change entrenched attitudes involving casual racism, sexism and homophobia, so he had to go. I think there are a few more on the board who need to go too.

Donna: I have not heard anything more about Weave or how she is getting on. I think if one of us hears anything we will let everyone know as soon as possible. I am looking forward to hearing from Weave herself - can someone smuggle a laptop into the hospital?

  1. He is rather obnoxious.. surprised it didn't happen sooner. Listening to some things he has said, you wonder how he got where he was. The sad thing is that he isn't the only one in a place of power with questionable attitudes.
Hope we get news of Weave soon.

  2. Brothers and Sisters...
I started using these two words back
    in the 60's..Spending 12yrs working
for the Americans, 10mths up in Detroit
at Motown..so my music was strictly Soul,
and l stopped referring to people as 'black'
    but Brothers and Sisters..
"What's going on Brother" "What's happing Brother"
And so on..And, l've been like it ever since...
Colour matters nowt to me, there's good and bad in
all sorts, l get on with everybody..and l mean
    everybody..

I've just turned 73..and from the day l was born,
years of growing up, school, college, traveled,
halfway around the world, worked, and mixed with
ALL sorts..And yet..l have never ever been in a fight,
l've never struck anyone, and no one has ever struck
    me..and that's the very truth..Some said..l should get
    out more..HeHe! Yeah! "Right~On"..! :).

Now! My Dad was racist..was he ever..Fought in the war,
like his brothers etc..they always used to say...
    "There's only one good German..and that's a dead one".
Said it till the day he died..!

But then, there's a lot of 'sad' people out there, and,
they seem to be getting away with all sorts..look at
the idiot in the White House..HaHa! White House..!
Maybe white on the outside, but it's very dirty and
    ugly on the inside..! :(

HeHe! God Bless! And l was'nt even gonna leave a comment
    to~day..! :o).

AND..Yeah! Good news about Weave soon..!x

  3. I know we all worry about Pat, but I think we must all hope for the best, I am sure if she had a laptop in hospital, she would be typing away furiously.
As for Greg,Clarke he is typical of an age that luckily is fast fading away. All I know is that I shall be glad to talk of ALL people without having to say anything about skin colour - which is not important.

    1. Well I think all differences - whether physical or cultural - are important, and it is no use to pretend that we are all the same in every respect. The important thing is to respect and appreciate the differences.

  4. I too would love to know how Weave is doing....each day I check to see if her son might possibly send something via her blog. Not knowing is awful.

    1. Her son used to blog a few years ago, but then stopped. I would hope he would keep us informed because I am sure he knows that Weave means a lot to us.

    1. I would describe it as a network, but it could turn into one if we had more information.

    1. Next thing is find out where she is. Maybe some of our Northern bloggers could make discreet enquiries. The trouble is that hospitals here will give no information to anyone who is not family.

  10. I am anxious to hear something of her as well. A lap top smuggler! Sounds like a lovely adventure!

  11. Stumbled over here from another blog, and was so happy to read all these comments about Weaver of Grass. I've been following her for about 10 years, maybe more, and have really missed her. Should you hear anything, please let me know.
