Too late for damage limitation

There is only one thing clear about the state of British politics, and that is that both main parties are doing their best (and making a good job of it) to destroy themselves at a time when they are needed more than ever before.

I don't like Jeremy Corbyn. I have never liked the extreme left-winger or any of his cronies. I am pleased that he has been suspended from his own party, and I am pleased that the likes of Momentum will probably never again be in any position of influence.

He had to go. He was destroying any chance of Labour ever being elected and single-handedly gave all those Northern safe seats to Boris Johnson. What a gift. Boris is squandering that gift now. His posing next to the crappy mural depicting a hackneyed, Dickensian portrayal of stereotyped imperialism was stupid enough to get him thrown out of the party then, but he wasn't. They had to invent a new law which turns a valid and sincere question into hate-speech.

Ok, here comes some newly defined hate speech. Do you believe that anti Semitism in the Labour party has been greatly exaggerated? Was it a third of the party or 0,3 percent who are being or have been investigated? Put aside your dislike of the man and don't confuse (or conflate) his opinions regarding the Israel/Palestine situation with anti Semitism.

When Boris referred to 'piccaninnies', or Moslem women as 'letterboxes', nobody batted an eyelid, let alone question whether or not the Conservative party is full of racists. Can you imagine him expelling anyone who dares to suggest otherwise?

It is all a big waste of time and energy. Any racist should be thrown out of any party well before they have to undergo a pledge of allegiance.

  2. I cannot answer to your questions about British politics, but I can tell you that racism is alive and well in the politics of my country. The voter suppression efforts which target poor, black populations, a president who refuses to condemn white supremacists, a vast population of Americans who cannot agree that black lives DO matter...we are living in horrifying times here, and it sickens me. I am very sad to hear that it might be happening elsewhere.

    1. We have been force-fed American values since before 1945.

    2. I am sorry to hear that. I'm fed up with us. To be perfectly honest, if my husband and I did not have a business here, if my grandchildren were not here, I myself would not be here. As dramatic as the statement sounds, it is a simple truth. We are in dangerous times.

  4. The sad thing is that Starmer has been doing a good job stopping the party from hitting the headlines all the time in the wrong way. And now here comes Corbyn, with no aim apparently but to prove that he is right and the elected leader of Labour is wrong. Now he pre-empts and undermines the leader's speech appears with his nose hanging over the top of his mask like an idiot and gives the Tories the chance they have been gasping for all year - to poke fun at Labour again and distract people from their own failings. Any more of Corbyn's antics and Labour will start to regain its reputation as a shambles and begin to slip down in the polls again. So I really hope he decides to go away and start his own party where he and his followers can squabble and talk and protest to their heart's content. It's the best thing he can do for Labour and for the country.

    1. I have not seen any pictures, but has he really muscled his way back into the picture? I thought he was lying low, but what do I know? He is a prat best forgotten, but Starmer has dug him up again.

  6. It is very interesting reading what J Corbyn actually said regarding the report..compared to all the press coverage. And also what the report said should be happening regarding free comments on internal LP matters
That is worrying, whatever you think of the man himself and any divisive politicking going on in the Labour Party. Especially as Starmer used to be a human rights lawyer.

There is divisive politicking on every front instead of getting on with the job in hand.
The saying goes,a plague on all their houses...which is what we have now, is it not?

  7. Corbyn's particular ideas of Socialism have cost this country dear. Because of his unpalatable ideology and dithering we have been lumbered with Brexit and a majority that gave the lunatics in charge of the asylum carte blanche to do what they like. We are well rid of him - if only he would do the right thing and bugger off instead of protesting his innocence, creating havoc in the party to the bitter end.

    1. I don't think he can be blamed for Brexit, no matter his views on it. We are to blame for that.
