Rishi Sunak

I must say I am very impressed with Rishi Sunak. Confident, bold, eloquent and decisive. Very good.

I think he is basically A-political, which helps. I also hear that he worked with Gordon Brown in a Labour government, which is most reassuring.

This crisis transcends politics.

    1. They are still point-scoring, but we have to ignore that. Jezza is ignored in any case.

  2. Yes, he is good. You may have just read that I thought Jennie Harries handled the press well tonight too. I have already written a post about Sunak so I didn't mention him again tonight.

    1. No, I hadn't read your post. Praise is due to Boris for surrounding himself with competent advisors for a change.

    2. Friday 20 March, The Press Conference. You were absent at the time. And yes. I also rate Vallance and Whitty highly too.

    3. I know you do but I don't just acquire my opinions from your posts. I have the BBC as well, remember?

    4. And I wasn't absent. I was just pretending to be.

    5. Of course not, and I wasn't implying that you do.

    6. Oh alright. I was pretending too.

  3. I can vouch for him being a good MP Tom - he is my Constituency MP - took over from Wlliam Hague the previous one. Both of them have been good onlocal issues as well as National ones.

    1. I knew Chris Patten when he was MP for Bath. He was very good on many levels. He would have been a Lib Dem if they weren't so powerless.

  4. Same here Tom. A life long Socialist me, but this guy has leadership qualities and is a "proper" politician

    1. I admit that I had never heard of him before this, but my prejudices against the undignified power struggle preceding him have been almost forgotten. Almost.

  5. I can't believe people are screaming that the government should sort EVERYTHING out now rather than June

I can't believe the govt has done so well given the circumstances
    Let's get real

    2. I'm not sure that anyone other than Trump does believe that governments can get this under control in three weeks, do they?

    3. The press and media give the impression that they expect magic, not necessarily in finishing it in three weeks but in solving everything.
