Collapse correctly

When the driver of this car parked and turned his engine off, the mirrors automatically turned themselves upward and offered a view of my next-door neighbour's chimney stack from the other side of the road.

Folding mirrors are supposed to protect themselves against vandals and passing traffic which gets too close, but all these do is offer a better target. Also they must collect the rain like a bucket, and there are electrics behind that glass. Bad design.

I have two birthday parties to go to this weekend and the weather is going to be shite. Thankfully, one has marquees and the other has a canopy in a pub garden.

My telescopic ladder arrived this morning. It has inherent danger even before you step on the first rung. If you collapse it in the wrong order you stand a good chance of breaking all the fingers of both hands under the falling stack of rungs.

Note to self: Make sure you collapse it in the right order.

  1. The weather here is lovely. Do a few dummy runs with the ladder.

    1. It's good here now too, but rain is on the way. I did my dummy runs this morning which is how I found out about the order of collapse... They come down quickly.

    2. Note to you: don't stand too close.

    3. You have to actually hold it to collapse it, but I have long arms.

  2. I should think the electrics have gone Taiwan. I can't imagine it was designed thus.

    1. All modern cars do exactly the same thing and end up in the same position.

    2. The ones I've seen here tend to fold themselves into the side of the car. I've never seen one pointing upwards. But I don't keep up with motoring fashions.

  4. Our car is behind the times a bit. We have to manually fold our side mirrors in and I often forget to do so!

  5. Oh dear, watch out for that ladder. I've nearly come unstuck myself with one of them.
