School children
The elected MEPs of Nigel Farage's Brexit party refused to stand when a small group of musicians played Ode To Joy at the opening of the European Parliament yesterday, and when they were told to show some respect, they stood up and turned their backs on the little orchestra.
Farage justified this juvenile behaviour by saying that the speaker described the E.U. as a foreign country, and emphasised the use of the word 'country'. He and his cronies chose (or rather he chose for them) to interpret the example of how it is only polite to stand during the anthem of a foreign country as meaning that the E.U. sees itself as a 'country'. They had obviously planned not to stand long before this flimsy excuse.
The worst thing about this is that although he represents a little under half of the United Kingdom when he attends the E.U. parliament, he also represents me.
Every day it gets a little worse. Every day my sense of shame in our elected leaders becomes more embarrassing. The whole country is being run by delinquent schoolboys.

And the Lib Dems wore T shirts with that B to B slogan on the back. And Boris just talks B. And JC doesn't talk at all.
ReplyDeleteYes! We have lost all respect from not only the E.U. but the rest of the world too. The only person to think that all this is a good thing is Trump.
DeleteTusk didn't bother too much when he was chucking insults around not long ago. No need for us to sink to his levels though. Shame on Farage.
ReplyDeleteThe trouble is that it is us who are sinking to his levels. Britain voted him in.
DeleteIt's the Lower IVth summer outing. Jellies, egg sandwiches, and lemonade on the lawn for later.
ReplyDeleteWithout the fun.
DeleteI''m totally with you on this - absolutely sickening.
ReplyDeleteI am also in total agreement - makes one ashamed sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me cringe.

ReplyDeleteAnd perhaps you will tune in tomorrow to Der Trumpster's Nationalistic day of patriotism. Just for comparison. It all will end, but not soon.
ReplyDeleteI hear he is planning to outdo Putin with a military parade, complete with tanks and missile launchers.
DeleteWhat's fascinated me is that he looks as though he's slept in his suit. I thought he was claiming thousands in expenses etc. from various people ?
ReplyDeleteand they follow the actions of a certain right wing party in the Reichstag...this is all worrying and I feel powerless
ReplyDeleteThe arrogance of these MEP's is staggering. Such childish behaviour will not win us any friends other than trumpites. I feel embarrassed and ashamed to be British.
