You were warned what would happen

As predicted, the far right of G.B. are taking advantage of the current climate and filling the vacuum made by the idiotic decision to give 'ordinary people' a vote in something that will affect their children and grandchildren for the rest of their lives, but not them. It could be the far-left if there is another referendum, but let's deal with that when the time comes.

Farage is now threatening to upturn British politics and get rid of the 'two party' system of government here by, presumably, creating one all-powerful party.

When was the last time we saw this attempt at a popularist power-grab in Europe? All I can think of is Germany around 1936.

Every day for the last three years you think it can get no worse, and every day it does.

  1. I saw Farage's party launch on the news channel. Factually vacuous. Emotionally powerful. Very worrying.

    1. Farage is not worrying in himself. but the situation is. Farage will become more worrying as the general situation deteriorates even more than it has already. These are seriously bad times.

  2. I think Farage is a fool who thinks only of publicising himself. He has shown he can't cooperate with anyone enough to make anything work, including UKIP which was his own creation. His new party will split the vote of Ukip and Conservatives, just as his outrageous selfish behaviour has raised pro European consciousness and encouraged the growth of an increasingly strong pro European movement. Oh, and take a look at the new party's website, https://thebrexitparty.com/ - it'll give you a laugh. No, Farage is just a troublemaker, the really dangerous people are the likes of Liam Fox.

    1. Divide and rule is an old tactic. It was invented by the Romans, and you know who emulated the Romans, of course.

  3. Think yourself, or ourselves, lucky we haven't got proportional representation or on second thoughts, first past the post hasn't been working too well of late either.

    1. We haven't any system that works too well, have we? I am a devout Monarchist, which may be construed in any way which suits you. I do not believe in Socialism, I do not believe in Communism, I do not believe in Anarchy and I do not believe in Democracy. I do not believe in Proportional Representation and I do not believe in anything other than stopping a combination of complete fucking idiots and ambitious Fascists from gaining any more power than they deserve to inherit.

    2. 17.4 million or more would vote to have the Queen in charge if they could. She is more popular than Parliament. She could repeal the Bill of Rights and tell the EU to fuck off and declare a month of celebration. Deal done. Thanks for the additional birthday greetings.

    3. She could but she wouldn't.

    4. For the simple reason that she would not want to see the country go down the toilet, or lavatory bowl or whatever you want to call it.

    5. And it would be the end of the monarchy.

    6. I like the idea of the Queen making the decisions, ever since the Blair government actually.

  4. Whatever happened to Farage possibly obtaining German citizenship? Was that just a rumor?

    3. I think his application was turned down. Or maybe that was Nigel Lawson in France.

  5. A "vehicle" of self interest somebody said about the new party. Why would somebody who doesn't believe in the EU want to be elected there?

English people could buy an house in Ireland? They are entitled because of free movement to live here and they would be in the EU and there is proportional representation.

    1. There are some in these circles who have done just that. They now shout at us from over the Irish Sea and tell us we are all idiots. I am sorry to say that could be a valid point.

  6. Rural property is very cheap in Ireland if you don't mind a project. I just think that why not have the best of both worlds and not worry about Brexit if it happens? Wish I could afford somewhere cheap in Herefordshire or Dorset. Think its going to be Ireland and Portugal for us soon.
