A TV comedian with no previous experience of politics outside the show in which he plays the hapless President of Ukraine gets elected as President of Ukraine. Things are looking up.
I mean, it is as crazy as electing Ronald Regan or Arnold Schwarzenegger as Governor of California isn't it? Remind me - who is the President of the USA at the moment? My carers often ask me who is the President of this country, and I proudly tell them that we have no President. I know what is going on.
Tom, Tom, don't forget Al Franken, comedian from Minnesota, who won against all odds, and served long and well until drowned in the MeGoo (I let that typo stand!) recall of many stupid, onomatopoeic sons of bitches.
Here's a money making idea: (i) join the Brexit party and so long as you can present yourself well you might get selected as one of their MEPs (assuming they get as many votes as people are saying). (ii) You won't actually have any duties (in fact it might be best to keep as low a profile as possible). Just draw the salary and expenses for a few weeks, months, or even longer. (iii) Retire.

ReplyDeleteI do, I tell you. I do.

DeleteFor you readers from the USA, 'sob' is onomatopoeic and nothing to do with sons of bitches.

ReplyDeleteI still miss him. It was ridiculous that he resigned. Or worse.
DeleteI will have to look him up.

ReplyDeletePlenty of comedians wanting to become PM in the UK; on all sides of the spectre, especially the left.
DeleteDidn't you mean right? The lefties have no sense of humour.
DeleteI wonder what the people who voted for him thought.
ReplyDeleteI think they thought he would make a pleasant change?
DeleteThe Russians are very pleased.
ReplyDeleteThey have a good sense of humour too. I don't think Putin has though.
DeleteI have been following it. This is the result they wanted.
DeleteAnd me.
DeleteHe will probably do no worse than our present Westminster comedians.
ReplyDeleteHe might be funnier.

ReplyDeleteI'll think about it.
DeleteThe US President was basically a game show host. We lost.
ReplyDeleteYes. And he didn't even go to Harvard...
DeleteMy response to that news was exactly the same as yours Tom. The Russians have their fingers everywhere.
ReplyDeleteDid Tom say anything about the Russians? I can't find it.
DeleteIt was a reflection on how much they didn't want the present incumbent re-elected more than anything else.
