Look at this little old cast iron plaque a few inches off the pavement in the town of Corsham, Wiltshire. You have to bend very low and look very hard to read it, and because of yet another crappy photo, I will translate it.

I wonder if they fine the dog or the owner?
I would think that it would only be miniature dogs that would see it and, correct me if I’m wrong but, I don’t think dogs can read ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteJac beat me toit
ReplyDeleteYou both lost me.
DeleteMiniature dogs are low to the ground therefore only they would see the sign ..... humans are taller and would miss it ..... geddit ? XXXX
DeleteThat was the whole point of this post. I was trying to be humorous.
DeleteD’oh ...... I feel really silly now ! .... no change there then ! XXXX
DeleteOh, dear Jack@. Don't feel silly. I am sometimes too obscure for my own good.
DeleteI once had the cheek to ask Brighton Council how much money they had received in fines for 'dog fouling'. Someone (a whistleblower) eventually sent my letter back to me, which was written all over, had attachments, and answered nothing. There had obviously been pure PANIC within the council chambers, wondering who I was and why I wanted the info!
ReplyDeleteThey thought you were a super dooper pooper snooper.
Deletep.s. Lovely pavement!
DeleteOne question. What proof have you that dogs can't read? Answers on a postcard please.
ReplyDeletei knew a dog once who walked around town without a lead, and his owner would stop at a pub and ask him in an ordinary voice if he wanted to go home or come in. The dog made his own mind up and walked off without counting. Dogs usually don't like pubs.
DeleteAn interesting observation, dogs generally the don't like pubs. All those dogs in Scotland, at their masters feet, a different breed?
ReplyDeleteNot in Glasgow. Too many drunks.
DeleteHa! Dog's eye view.
ReplyDeleteIt was put on the wall by a cat.
