Michael Cohen resigns

Hundreds of children separated from their parents at the borders because the authorities did not have the guts to refuse to carry out Trump's vicious and inhumane orders have been put on busses and sent to New York, 2000 miles away from where they last saw their their mothers and fathers.

One of these children is 9 months old.

In order to try to hang on to his presidency, Trump responded to the outrage which saw the resignation of one of his closest allies, by allowing for future illegal immigrants to stay with their parents whilst in detention, knowing that American law decrees that you are not allowed to keep a child in detention for more than 20 days, so after that period the children will be taken away in any case.

This concession means nothing to the hundreds of children and parents who have already been separated though, because the immigration officials have made no records of the children which would have facilitated reunification. No finger-prints, no DNA samples and very little paperwork. There would be no point in asking a 9 month-old baby his last known address, let alone the name of his parents.

Trump wants to send a strong message to potential immigrants, but forgets that they probably would not follow him on Twitter even if they could speak English.

  1. It's beyond belief. There is no plan to reunite the kids already taken and some one is making millions from their misery.
I think Trump is a psychopath.

    2. Wish he was one of them. I have friends going to LaGuardia tonight as the separations continue. They are trying to verify where these kids are being taken. It is evil.

    3. La Guardia is even hostile to tourists. I know. I went through and was screamed at for putting my foot over a red line in the queue to immigration. I mean REALLY screamed at.

  2. Reap what you sow. Ignore calls to control immigration, fail to listen to the people, for years and years and this is what you end up with. Trump got it wrong of course but I can't help thinking once again that you can't keep hoping that problems will just go away and be forgotten about. Same happening in Italy.

    2. Suggests to me that the people who justify Trump either think some kids are in some way responsible for the adult trouble they are being punished and tormented for. Or perhaps they just feel some parents won't understand till their kid gets it, and certain grown ups have the job of making sure that the kids suffer so the parents will. Sure, something has to be done about migrants and refugees (not immigration, surely, which is what America is built on) but sadly people do not always reap what they sow. Not bothering to keep records or take proper care of these kids having taken them from their families, is pure evil. No justification needed, nobody reaping what they sow except these poor wretches.

    3. I am too angry to respond to this self-serving blather tonight, so I will tomorrow. It is not as simple as that, Rachel, and you bloody well ought to know it.

    4. It always hard to hear a different slant on something for everybody, me included, on everything today. We get what we deserve, and Trump is one of those things.

    5. Tomorrow I will go back to the roots of what gets a cunt like Trump into power, but like I say, tonight I am too angry to even respond to this shit. It goes further than a 'different slant '.

    6. I mean, for fuck's sake, what 'seeds' did those kids sow? You have to get over that you may have misjudged a few situations in the last ten years.

    7. And my slant is nobody deserves Trump except bankers and rednecks. Scum like Trump rises to the surface in times of economic hardship.

  4. Every time Trump howls about "immigrant trash" I wonder how his wife, an immigrant, feels. Oh, right. What everyone understands is that Trump is talking about black and brown immigrants. The white ones are fine. He married two.

    2. Melania is the real immigrant trash. Did you see the jacket she was wearing when she left to visit the children taken from their parents? It said (you couldn't make this shit up): I Don't Care, Do You?

    3. She is not very bright (how could she be to marry Trump?) but at least she has publicly denounced her husband's treatment of the immigrant children. Let's hope she divorces him soon, but maybe that would be the excuse for him to send her back.

  8. Absolutely disgusting. Sub human is the word. Fancy a developed country not keeping records, they are treating these human beings like pure trash.

  13. Let's remember that everything we read and hear is somehow connected to some crooked political agenda in one way or another. There are so many facets to the US South American immigration problem that it seems impossible to untangle all the threads or even to know what to believe. The horrible shame of it is how it affects children, legitimately here or not, or in their own country. God help us! Here are some other takes on it:

  14. I neglected to say that I have no respect for Trump and am appalled that he is actually a sitting president of the United States - but he alone isn't the cause or the solution - our whole government is corrupt and broken.
