As already said, Trump will side with anyone who could keep him in power.
Never mind causing a 50 year long storm in the Middle East, if he can go against any Obama initiatives, he will.
The nuclear agreements for the Arab states were never going to be 100% failsafe. That was never the point. The point was that some sort of starting place could be reached without loss of face in the eyes of the world. Wouldn't that be better than another, new, arms race?
Israel has Trump wrapped around its finger right now, but only because Trump is looking in the direction of re-election.
Never mind Hisbollah and other troublesome priests, Trump will do more damage than all of them put together.
Still, never mind, eh?
ReplyDeleteTom, it's down to the rear guard, and a lot of us seem fair weather men, unless roundly kicked in the ass. IMHO.
ReplyDeleteI hope that something is done before he destroys the world's economy by destroying his own. Boeing alone is set to lose $20 billion because of Trump walking away from the agreement. He has the arrogance to threaten to punish any nation which deals with Iran against his wishes, but we are already being punished. The British aviation companies made deals with the USA and use parts made in America. Now Europe is going to lose money and jobs because Trump will sanction any company which sells anything American to Iran.
DeleteIf he decides to attack Iran, will he now have the support of the UK and France? Methinks NOT.
ReplyDeleteI bloody well hope not.
DeleteIt just gets worse every day. I do hope we get to see the day when he gets what he deserves.
ReplyDeleteI hope we live to see it.
DeleteBecause it is my Book Group#s choice this month I am reading a Terry Pratchett about the alternative world. Sometimes I wish I lived in it.
ReplyDeleteI escape to 17th century England, but that is a personal choice.
DeleteThe Obama deal never stopped Iran funding Hezbollah, or terrorists throughout the Middle East come to that.
ReplyDeleteBut it did slow down their nuclear program. The far right Iranians are now saying to the moderates, 'See. We told you that America cannot be trusted to keep their word'. Trump has removed any chance of dialogue. He is not interested in dialogue - he sees everything in terms of money spent or money saved, and Iran as 100% bad guys with no good guys.
DeleteDid it?
