I am about to subscribe to a Scandinavian browser and search engine. Am I biting a corporate hand when I say that I fucking hate Google, You Tube, Facebook and all the others? We need to get back to the Whole Earth Catalogue.
Is a Scandinavian browser like Whole Earth? I think Mark has scared the bejammers out of himself and has reeled in FB like a mother who kept her baby from falling down an elevator shaft. YouTube is OK; old songs and movies. Google owns all the rest, but is spreading itself so thin, disaster is inevitable. Not to mention, Bezos owns all the "clouds" it stores data on.Don't be involved in the drama. So glad you're back.
Re Whole Earth, I just think it is trying to return to the ethos of information sharing without advertisers trying to get money from you all the time - like You Tube does.
But it's worthless, so I don't care if they lose it. Besides, can you imagine a big start-up company selling advertising through me? Or even selling me something?
Lovely to see you back Tom ...... you were missed ..... blogging isn’t the same without you. ..... and Nina ..... one of my favourites. Don’t go away again !!! XXXX
Hello, fine thank you and very happy to see you back Tom. I miss your writing and line of thoughts. Please don't abondon us again. I have a few records (yes records) of Randy Newman; my favourite too. Greetings Maria x
Let us know how that Scandinavian thing works out. Everything Nordic is in right now so why not tech too? I don’t thank it’s possible to avoid Big Tech so I choose to ignore its ignominious aspects. I’m sure I can’t beat ‘em.
Ignore the fucking adverts, just close your eyes and listen. Nina Simone and Randy Newman - two of my favourites. X

I don't go anywhere near cloud storage. You might as well just give it to them to do whatever they want - actually, people do just that.

DeleteWhere is your Google blog stored when you hit "save"?
DeleteIn a cave in Utah.

DeleteWelcome back. I've been searching every day to see if you were up and running again. Did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteIf you did miss something, it was probably worth missing.
DeleteAnd just like that you're back! ~ Cathy

ReplyDeleteThis is a nice cover too. Maybe it was the only reggae type thing she ever did?
