The words of Ian Dury

This is the Nepalese paper screen to hide the new water heater in H.I.'s bedroom - so far. Just the return to cover which is hanging down on the right side of this picture.

I made the frame (using the nail gun already described) and a friend bought the paper in London the day before yesterday. It was bloody expensive.

Note the angled side to follow the line of the Mansard roof. It is upside-down in this picture.

I am only posting this up because I want you to know just what clever bastards we are.

  1. Will H.I. paint something on it? Sorry if this is a silly question but it has not been obvious what happens next, if anything, to me.

    1. No, but you cannot see the texture of the paper so it isn't a silly question.

  2. Well done . I removed the comment moderation, but it all still seems the same?

    1. Ah, Jill. Thank you. I didn't think you would take any notice of me. I am flattered. I'll go and have a look now.

  3. A clever bastard is the only kind of bastard I will tolerate. Beautiful looking screen. I am duly impressed all the way over here in Illinois.

    1. I am also what is known as a 'cocky bastard' here in the UK. Nobody likes them.

  4. An ex-acquaintance of mine was a fancy interior designer in London. She had clients who wanted unbelievably expensive hand made Chinese paper on their Mayfair walls. This stuff was several hundred quid per roll. When she went to inspect the finished job, she found that it had been pasted on back to front.

    1. Ha ha! That reminds me of how a client of mine tried to save money by getting her local builder to instal a fancy fire surround I had made for them. She came back with photos saying it didn't look quite right to her. They had installed the jambs upside-down with the corbels in the bottom.

    2. Freudian slip - I meant 'on' the bottom...

  6. I have no idea what this is meant to look like. I'll wait for a picture of the finished screen in place. But totally agree on your cleverness.
