I'm dreaming...

Everyone seems to be on holiday right now - well, John and Rachel anyway. It is probably a good idea to take a break before Christmas. I would take a break during Christmas if I could, but it's too expensive.

I once tried to escape Christmas by going to Egypt, but on the day, an Egyptian dressed as Santa rode at break-neck speed through the streets of Luxor in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by a large team of Arab drummers.

At night, the toughest chicken I have ever eaten was served to us Europeans who were seated with each other according to nationality. I was placed next to an Englishman who I had once shared a flat with in Whitstable, but it took us all night to recognise each other. During the meal, one waiter tried to stab another with a kitchen knife, just like Christmases at home when I was a kid.

I had previously ridden a horse across the Sahara - in the pouring rain.

With the arrival of the grandchildren (24 years ago) I decided that if you can't beat them, you might as well join them.

  2. The over riding message here is do not go on holiday before Christmas. But then I dont do holidays any more. As in going away.

    1. It looks as though you don't need holidays where you live. I also live in a holiday destination, but often need a break from all the splendour and beauty.

  3. Is this a test. T and F? Stay home for Christmas, in any case, and enjoy hot baths.

    1. Now the weather is colder, I also enjoy our new Dyson heater. Soon I will be longing for the heat so I can use the cool setting - and hot water...

Life has rebooted back into normality

    1. Or what passes for normality in your world. Welcome home. I would say that I missed you, but that would be untrue. One post a day deprived me of that longing.

  5. Am very glad that I do not celebrate Xmas, it saves me from all the suffering you christians appear to enjoy.

    1. You have a point, but I don't fancy the idea of celebrating any festival by standing in a field with a handful of comparative strangers.

  6. I'm actually rather looking forward to Christmas this year; there must have been some sly chemical change in my body.
