Mini rant

I keep meaning to offload the fact that the latest over-used phrase that I find as irritating as the 2 second repeating video clips that some people here use as header photos is 'any way, shape or form'.

  1. I mean, what is the difference between shape and form in any case? Kinell.

    1. I stop thinking about it as soon as those words.

  3. About a year ago Lady Magnon used the phrase 'at the end of the day'; everybody gasped in horror. She hasn't used it since.

    1. Oh yes, ghastly! The only answer is "You go to bed."

  5. "Honestly!!" I call a lot of that crap "Sprach-Bazillen" - "Bacillus of speech" (my creation). As to "anyway, shape or form" I do not even understand it. (sent as a min-reply on my way to the gym, just to shape and form...)

    1. Yes, but I can hold out for a year or so if needed. I am good at going blank.

  7. Poor Tom , my current pet peeve, given we are coming up for an election, is "..the fact that..." when it is not followed by an actual fact. But when you do it in a mini rant, it is endearing!

    1. Here, obfuscation is usually prefixed with, 'I am very clear that...'

    2. Yes, so many qualifying phrases mean the exact opposite! Methinks the speaker often is hoping that we will just buy into it. And sadly so often this tactic works.
