Withdrawing from society

There has just been a documentary on Michael Powell, and it made me remember this interesting nun. She was not cut out for the contemplative life, I think...

After she kicked the habit...

... things got a little out of hand...

  1. She could ring a mean bell just with her right hand though!

  2. Black Narsissus? Kind of racy at one time. What a strong cast.

    1. Yes. It was banned by the Catholic Church in America. The film that finished him was 'Peeping Tom' - to early for its time.

    1. I am associated with the small boy in Peeping Tom through his godson - another Columba. The original Columba is the same age as me - exactly. It isn't a feel-good film, that's for sure.

    1. The above 'BOO!' was taken from the Halloween window display of a vegetarian wholefood shop here in Bath. Pathetic...

    2. Shame our local butcher doesn't do Halloween window displays - they've got real blood.

  7. It's The Red Shoes that I remember.

Currently, over here the Smithsonian Museum of American History is trying to raise money to restore those Ruby Red Slippers that Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz. Taxpayers are being spared this. The Smithsonian is a public museum.

I am still recovering from watching last night's debate.

    1. I loved Trump's final nail in his own coffin - "I will respect the decision of the people in this historical election of the President of the United States - so long as I win!"

  8. That first picture is quite haunting. I've seen the film many times, and she always disturbs me.

    1. I have always fancied her (as did Powell) and I had quite a few girlfriends who looked - and behaved - just like her.
