Spilt milk

I had already started the process of 'getting over it' last night as far as the Brexit disaster goes, and then I read Molly's post which gave us the sad news that her beloved husband has died. Seen from a different perspective, we have a lot to be thankful for, eh?

In order to make the best of it, we need the politicians to get it together, but this time genuinely for the sake of the country, and not just for the sake of their own careers. I am told that even the Queen told them to get themselves together yesterday. It's not just for the sake of the U.K. either, it is - quite literally - for the sake of the rest of Europe, and probably most of the world as well.

There will be no second vote. That's not how democracies work - keep voting until you get it right? In fact, democracies don't work very well at all, as this mess illustrates. I am not joking when I say that I think our monarchy and other unelected institutions should be given more political power. Anyone who is ambitious enough to seek power for power's sake is not fit to govern a country, as recent bad behaviour from almost ALL of our elected representatives shows.

We need to strengthen our Civil Service - give it back the influence which was taken from it by the Thatcher administration. We find that we do actually need Sir Humphrey after all.

  1. A philosopher called John Gray was saying something like this on the radio this morning, but I was lying in bed listening to it whilst half asleep. I didn't even catch the name until Rachel told us about it today. If I had been a little more awake, I would have thought that I was dreaming about someone from Trelawnyd.

    1. Thanks. I was feeling all serious when listening and when I wrote the post so didn't say anything about the name. He put it well didn't he?

    3. Well we do, after all, have to just bite the bullet.

  2. I don't think I know Molly but how very sad for her..and you are right to say how such news puts things into perspective. As for the country? well surely there must be one or two altruistic souls out there who want to steer us on the right way?

    1. Cometh the time, cometh the cunts, as we say in this part of the world.

  3. Thank you for this post. it seems as if "the greater good" is being flung out of the baby carriage.

It is time for grown ups to carry on. (Over here in the States, too.)

    Best wishes.
