The scent of Mitsouko followed by the inexplicable playing of the RAF march put me in mind of the evenings when they prepared to go to the London balls in Great Queen Street, returning home when I was still fast asleep.
Crystallised fruit for breakfast - once a year.
I was in tears.
Oh, so you aren't a robot. Newberry fruits but I suppose they were better ones than that.
ReplyDeleteNo and yes. Fresh fruit lightly glazed in sugar syrup, and then frozen. I have put on some Mitsouko tonight, and I am going to sleep with it.
DeleteSweet dreams.
DeleteI woke up swearing that I could smell someone cooking a game casserole, then I remembered the Mitsouko. It seems that if I go to bed with it, I end up smelling like stew. A hint of juniper, I think.
DeleteMoments like these always sneak under the radar
ReplyDeleteThey are always happening in this house, and it gets like the bits in the film, 'Orphee', where there is someone who spends his whole time tuning in to the spy coded messages on the wireless.
DeleteIt was 'Chamade' for me; same maker. Lady M was never dressed without it. I wonder if it's still available?
ReplyDeleteI don't know that one. They still make Mitsouko, but either they have slightly altered the recipe or my nose has changed. Probably the latter.
DeleteYes, Tom, the formulation has changed...many times over the years. Mostly due to IFRA regulations and oak moss restrictions (I'm late to reading this post - been busy w/my mom in the hospital)
