Did he jump, or was he pushed?

The four Peregrine Falcon chicks on Norwich Cathedral are getting big now, and are certainly not camera-shy.

It has been predicted that the oldest will take flight sometime in the first few days of this month, and I reckon this one is going to be it.

The Bath chick - although looking like a white, fluffy penguin still - is getting bigger, but does not give the same entertainment as these four from Norfolk. It is now the scariest time of all, because sooner or later, one is either going to fall over the edge in an unintended dive, or take the plunge deliberately.

When this one sits on the parapet, the others lunge toward it and start pecking its feet, trying to loosen its grip. We watch through our fingers, with our hands held over our faces.

The score remains the same: Norwich 4, Bath City 1. The final whistle has yet to be blown, though.

  1. Behind the leafy creeper on our 'tower' (see today's page), is a Blackbird's nest. Mrs Blackbird is feeding her chicks with wild strawberries; how very chic is that!

    1. This seems to be the way everyone eats in your part of the world - I'm still envious.

  3. Thank you for keeping me up-dated. To think whilst I am sitting at my desk gazing across at the Cathedral you are sitting in your little apartment in Bath looking at it too. How nice. They must have survived last week's flood.

  4. There is a look of sheer arrogance here - and I love it.

  5. I always wonder what little ones like these think of the view?
