You thought the last one was bad

Someone on the radio this morning gave out the information that 'Cupid's Arrow' came from the ancient Romans' observation of how snails spear each other with a sharp, calciferous spike, prior to actually copulating. You also have to remember that snails are hermaphrodites, and the Romans were very fond of eating them, as is today's romantic Frenchman in the city of Valentine's holidays - Paris.

I don't know about you, but I find my previous post on Valentine's greetings slightly more palatable than this theory about Cupid in particular and cherubs in general.  I mean!

    2. That made a refreshing change - swearing at you rather than complimenting you on the quality of your writing. I could get used to that - especially since you probably now have your own editor to pick you up on non-existant grammatical errors, and no longer have to do it yourself!

    3. You don't sound convinced, Sarah. Anyway, you got me worried and I've read it and re-read it until nothing makes sense anymore.

  4. As I said in my previous comment - ever the romantic Tom. And, by the way, do you mean to tell me that you buy that horrible tomato sauce in a bottle?? What's wrong with a tine of tomatoes, some butter and a chopped onion cooked down to a mush??

    1. I am not yet retired (and never will be) but I still have - in the past - found time to make my own passata. These days, I have less time to stuff mushrooms, and the quality of many household ingredients has risen to such an extent, that you will now find expensive horse-meat in all sorts of products, including those of Waitrose.

Short answer - yes, I buy Heinz tomato ketchup. ALRIGHT?!
