Crack up

Ok, I admit it. Although I know the 'Reichenbach' story very well, I actually blubbed when Sherlock threw himself off the roof when I watched it tonight. I was blubbing for Watson and Mrs Hudson, you understand....

  1. My 'lump in the throat' moment ( no sniggering boy's ) was when Watson was talking to Sherlock by the graveside .... I really felt for poor old Watson.... I thought that he was going to walk away limping !
At least we know that there is to be a third series next year.
They are both in The Hobbit as well, which comes out in December.

    1. Me too, Jack@. I wondered what you meant by 'limping' until I remembered the first series...

  2. I 'missed' it... had people round. Sounds like I should watch the repeats when they turn up.

  3. I agree......Martin Freeman's scenes at the end were quite heart breaking....I love this version of SHERLOCK....the relationshion between Holmes and Watson is the most clearly defined and believable out of all of the films, and tv series I have seen....
    I too shed a tear

    1. Yes - this version is the most true to Conan Doyle of all the hundreds of others, and it is amazing how cleverly it has been adapted to 21st century life. My 19 year old boy who is studying film at Falmouth confirmed my suspicions when he said the the cinema Sherlock solves all the problems by using his fists - that's what I guessed from the trailer. I'm not rushing out to see that one.

I expect you remember that when Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock in the serialised original (he got fed up with him) hundreds of people walked around London wearing black arm-bands. I expect D. Cumberbatch is getting the same treatment now, so it's a good job he is getting other work to off-set the type-casting.

    2. P.S. - We're going to watch it again tonight (downloaded) - they easily take two or three viewings back to back.

  4. P.P.S. I have arranged for a work experience placement for my film-studies lad with a cameraman friend of mine, who has all sorts of connections in the industry. When I was talking to my mate, I said that it was a pity he had not got work on the Sherlock series, and he said that he had - it was his 2 days of shooting which won the awards for the first series, but he got no credit. Immediately I experienced a touch of hero-worship.
