Ugly mug

I said this morning that I would show you the worst tea-mug ever made (maybe) and here it is...

... in all it's glory, just in case you didn't believe my description.

Meanwhile, tomorrow I take these off to auction - they've been hanging around too long and are not good enough to expect any more than a little less than I paid for them. Those boxes are stuffed with all sorts of quaint goodies - someone is going to get a few bargains.

The violin case is very early 19th century, but - sadly - not in good nick, otherwise it would be off to London, where the Masonic sword came from. Wish me luck.

  2. Hello Tom:
You are right. The mug is seriously dreadful.

We trust that your goodly selection will fall under the hammer at some very inflated price. Good luck!

  5. See, I told you I was telling the truth. Now perhaps you will believe me in the future.

That stuff doesn't come up for auction until the 18th, by which time I will be back in bloody Germany again... don't ask...

  7. Yes, it is disturbing. I gave the same mug to my scrabble mate for his 70th recently. He was most appreciative.

  8. I must be getting old. I actually liked the colors of the mug. The creepy little man however, was still creepy

  9. Dreadful mug!

I recently came across a leather shotgun case, in very good nick, at a 'boot sale', and the Monsieur wanted £40 for it. I was a bit shocked...should I have been?

  10. Looks like that mug depicts a typical day on a certain ITU ward in Wales, Tom.

What's in that case at the bottom of the photo? Looks like a Mauser Parabellum...

Very dodgy. The whole collection could be from a mobsters toolbox.

  11. The leather case is a classic 'leg o' mutton' shotgun one, Chris, and the reason it's so short is because you 'break' the gun into 2 bits before putting it in. One in good condition would go for around £40 - £200, Cro, depending on quality, so your man was not asking the world by the sound of it.

I'm sorry - I cannot make any more comments regarding yours on the mug, I just feel to nauseous when I even think about it.
