Green Door

  1. We grew up with that song Tom...unfortunately the Frankie Vaughan version.

  2. Me too, J - it always haunted me as a kid. I wondered what was behind that green door, but now I know. Shame that prohibition and general debauchery have become normal, but old Frankie never became normal - his mother saw to that.

  3. Tom,
Now there is a song I have not heard in many decades. While I had yet to be born when the High Five with Jim Lowe came out with song my parents were in their prime. My mother has told me of her and my father winning a shagging dance contest in the pavilion at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I grew up with the trophy, the next time I go home for a visit I will have to see if I can track it down. Thanks for sparking a great childhood memory on this winter evening. And now I must leave the keyboard to see if I still remember the steps to the Shag. - G

  4. I think we all know how to shag, thank you!

I used to really like that, it was a HUGE hit at the time. I've even been known to break into song on seeing a green door. Sad git.

  5. I have forgotten. That's a nice trophy to have inherited, Gary. I always think of 'They shoot horse's, don't they?' whenever I think of dancing competitions. Now I have this image of you going to bed, exhausted but happy.

  6. I remember the Shakin' Stevens version. But then I'm just a youngster!

  7. Shakey use to be best mates with a friend of mine in Bristol - they used to have 'piss-fights' with each other in pub car parks...
