Can anyone identify this tree for me? It has a wonderful scent at the moment, coming from the little yellow, cup-shaped blossom. We sat underneath it last Sunday and the scent filled Queen Square.
I tried to grow a gingko once (failed), that is how I recognised the leaf. When I looked up gingko just now it said Maidenhair tree but I don't know any more than that. The description of it sounded quite tall, at least in its native China.
It looks a bit gingko-ish from the leaf. Maidenhair tree.
ReplyDeleteI thought the leaf looked gingko-ish. Is it called a Maidenhair tree for sure?

DeleteThat is a lovely park and the tree provides nice shade on a hot Summer day. You and Rachel have confirmed the tree name.
ReplyDeleteIt is Rachel that seems to know, I don't.
DeleteAgree with Rachel

Good evening from England.
DeleteIt looks like a ginko leaf to me.
ReplyDeleteNot Gingko..their leaves are more fan shaped..it is a lime or linden tree. Aren't the flowers used in herbal tisanes?
ReplyDeleteI think you may be right. It doesn't look like gingko to me. I'll do some more checking.
