Culture and guns

When things get tough, right-wing numbskulls cut funding to the Arts.

  1. Who were you having a drink with tonight? Ken Loach?

    1. Ken Loach is not my favourite film maker, but he has my respect for standing up for his principals, which is more than can be said for most people with distinct political leanings these days. Both you and I have benefitted greatly in our education at a time when the Arts were appreciated for everything that they bring to the country. The lot you voted for do not have an effing clue about anything worth fighting for except pensions.

  2. You are coming out with some good sayings these days when the going gets tough.

    1. In reality, when the going gets tough, I hide under the duvet.

  3. When things get tough, the tough get going. In other words, turn up the heat (feet to the fire) and movement begins. I think this can be said about anyone, regardless of their political leanings.

  4. Nixon cut funding to the arts in a way that affected me. Nut, he was a numbskull, and as right wing as his generation allowed. Eisenhower only picked him to assure a California win.

  6. Tom, you are definitely not a "wimp." Take care. From the base of the mini-mountain in Maine where the sun is shining and my roses blooming.

  7. Sorry to hear that you have caught covid. You are the 3rd I have heard of in 24 hours! It is definitely getting more widespread again. Hope that you will have it mildly.

  8. Truth.

PS: You've got COVID? I am sorry to read this, and hope that you're back to your sarcastic self soon.

  12. I just learn that you got "it"! My best wishes for recovering soon - and the question: is it as bad as they say? (I ask because at least three - younger - people who got it said it wasn't worse than a normal flu - which can be awful enough). Get well soon!

    1. So far it is just like flu. I am hoping I have the variant which has the same name as my postcode. That one seems to be more forgiving.
