Following Rachel's advice, I have just looked at Blogger spam and found a few legitimate comments thrown in amongst all the Indonesian porn and gambling adverts, but not enough to explain the distinct drop in comments that I have been getting for the last few weeks of not mentioning politics. I need to take a long, hard look at myself to explain that (opportunity for long, hard euphemisms here).
I think it is true to say that Raich became aware that comments were disappearing into the naughty corner after I complained that she was deleting some emojis :) that I deliberately sent her, knowing that she hates them. Ok, I know it is childish, but - as everyone knows - you should never tell anyone what you really dislike because that will only make them do it more just to have a laugh at your expense.
For instance, if you find yourself captured by the enemy, never tell them that, say, you are terrified of rats. The next thing you know, you will be in a darkened room with a cage full of them wrapped around your head.
I once said to a drunken man who was looking for revenge, "DO NOT let down the tyres on my car which is parked outside!" Guess what he did? 😄
I hate the symbols )))))))----- thingys more than anything that you were annoying me with. Blogger chose well that night in putting them into spam.

DeleteExactly.
DeleteJohn has found so many to release he has had to go and lie down.

DeleteWhat's a little fun among friends? Talking about fun...never get mad, get even. It's way more enjoyable. Emojis: I'm indifferent. I know some love throwing them around and think they are cute.
ReplyDeleteThe one I cannot stand is the thumbs up. Oh no... what have I said...
DeleteI like emojis as it is a quick way for me to keep in touch with my teenage grandkids on SnapChat. I like to let them know I am thinking about them and they often send a quick emoji back so it is a tiny connection but I'll take it!
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky you get anything back.
DeleteI know it!
DeleteEmojis are handy...they can ensure that a comment can't be misunderstood 🙂 !
ReplyDeleteHow do you work that out?
DeleteBy ensuring that a comment may be seen as positive and friendly..and not misconstrued. Backing up the words I suppose!
DeleteI hate emojis but suppose they can often be used instead of a comment.
ReplyDeleteOnly if you are an American teenager, Weave.
DeleteI find emojis handy for a quick reaction to a comment on my phone.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever use the smiling pile of shit?
DeleteNever! I´m usually communicating with my grandchildren...
DeleteI don't care for them because I haven't worked out what the majority mean. On the other hand, it never hurts to send a smile to a grandchild.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
DeleteI do not like emojis very much (though am showered with them on WhatsApp). I think that often it is laziness, and disrespect: not to seek for an appropriate expression - and I love being worth a thought (or two).
ReplyDeleteDoes your method of negative work for positive as well? I tried that now with my remark about "being worth". :-)
I use emojis when I am unsure if another person understands what I intend to say in a foreign language - mostly to make sure that it is meant as fun, not to hurt. Yet - I still don't like them very much. (Now you can shower me with them).
I don't quite understand the question, Britta. I know what you mean about using them to avoid being mistaken for being angry or something. Texts and emails show no emotion.
DeleteDon't use them. Don't understand the majority. The only "emoji" I use is "x" to convey love.
ReplyDeleteI love the story about the time when David Cameron was sent a text by a friend saying that her mother had died, and he replied with 'lol' thinking it meant 'lots of love'!
DeleteI don't mind an emoji now and again ...... they can be useful. This new Blogger comment box doesn't work on my iPhone on some blogs.... I now have to get my laptop out if I want to comment 🙄 .... see, I think that emoji is quite appropriate !!! I haven't looked in my spam box { as the actress said etc. 🤣 } XXXX
ReplyDeleteComments don't work on my iPhone either. It tells me to sign in and then will not let me. If I am at work and want to respond to someone I have to get home first. (maybe I shouldn't have said that...)
DeleteExactly what happens for me ...... so frustrating and, I can't see how to fix it ? XXXX
DeleteAnonymous works.
DeleteIf you were to get WhatsApp I would swap emojis with you.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be fun...
