Can you imagine how the French would react if their government hiked domestic energy prices up by 54% in one day, with the promise of further increases in the Autumn? Think about it. Our Brexit punishment has only just begun.
I had a letter a week ago from EDF, my supplier, saying my energy bill would go up by £250 for the year. This is nowhere near 50% or 54%. Where are you getting these figures from?
Maybe you should consider becoming as self-sufficient as possible. Relatives of mine built a cabin on the Maine Canada border and they did exactly that.
As much as living off-grid appeals to me, it would not be practical. We could not use any less electricity than we do already, and I really need a car.
Why does the government insist that the surviving companies have to take on the losses of the failures? Who failed as they were selling power for less than they were buying it...
Because the surviving companies would lose all the subsidies they get if they did not. I have never heard of Ecotricity, but I am willing to bet you will take a hit in the long run. Maybe in October.
Not Brexit but years of selling off the assets to foreign bidders and giving the spoils to political supporters. Saw it all in the 70s working for the famous high street tailor when they sold and leased back their golden property portfolio.

ReplyDeleteWhat has Brexit got to do with Opec?
ReplyDeleteIt has taken you about 6 months to catch up with reality for about 4 years in my experience. This time I predict you will catch up a bit sooner.
DeleteAh I see, the price cap rise. Yes, I knew about that.

DeleteOurs is going up 10%
ReplyDeleteBut then we are with Ecotricity.

DeleteAh Brexit! The gift that keeps on giving!
ReplyDeleteYes. It is a shame it is so boring.
DeleteI am surprised that you have not heard of Ecotricity. It is the biggest green energy company in the country based just up the road from you in Stroud.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is still operating?

ReplyDeleteHarold MacMillan saw it coming. ‘Selling off the family silver’. Thatcher is at the bottom of all of this.
