The white are worth more than the brown aren’t they ? I bought my sister and brother-in-law a hazel sapling with truffle spores for Christmas once …… I don’t think she’s found truffles yet !!!! XXXX
Yes. White are more valuable than black. If the spore-impregnated sapling you gave your sister produced any truffles you would be millionaires by now. They have been trying to cultivate black truffles here in Britain without success for years. People have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on truffles just to experiment. The outlay in time and money is immense.
Ah great. Thanks, I've been waiting to see this.
ReplyDeleteIt is a really charming and well-made film too.
DeleteI love the sequences where they fix the camera to the dog's head. I really lets you know how a sniffing dog moves around first-hand.
DeleteIt was on at cinemas a few weeks ago but only on limited release and I didn't get to see it. It had good reviews. I will watch it one night this week.
DeleteI watched it. It's a gem.
DeleteIt's great, isn't it.I wonder if Cro has watched it yet...
DeleteI am sorry if you are not in Britain and cannot watch it, but it mat appear on YouTube at some point if you are interested in the world of truffles.
ReplyDeleteThe trailer is on YouTube so at least we can see bits of it.

DeleteI know a place where you just have to watch the squirrels dig to find British Summer truffles, but they are quite inferior to the black Perigord ones.
