Quintessentially baleful

I love this image of a wooden fence rail pretending to be a lion.

  1. It becomes even more striking if one clicks on it and enlarges it because the wood looks like animal hair. I like it.

    1. Yes, I was looking out to sea at Studland Bay, having a cup of tea at the beach cafe when I saw him staring back at me from a distance of about 4 feet.

  2. I think he looks more like a Polar Bear.

  3. That is fascinating. The eyes are really pensive and have a staring quality. The message is: "I'm watching you."

  5. Reminds me of the song by the Police "Every breath you take":
Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take, I'll be watching you
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay, I'll be watching you

    1. That tune has big memories for me. It was the alarm call for a nurse I was going out with at the time.

  6. Fascinating - I can fully understand why you grabbed it and carried it back home with you.

  8. Oh yes. It has a name, seeing faces in inanimate objects, face pareidolia. Everything has a name apparently.

    1. I don't think it has elephant eyes, but I'll check. The photo could do with cropping sideways too.
