What is going on in this photo? John Gray has a head start with the answer on most of you.
We have been watching 'Around the World in 80 Days'. I think it is so much better than any of the other versions I have seen, and when I looked at the credits I saw it was written and produced by Ashley Pharaoh, who I know because he lives in Bath and we share mutual friends. I tried to watch 'Bone Kickers' which he also wrote, but it was so bad that I gave up after one episode. That is saying something for someone who loves anything involving fantasy, mystery and archeology.
Christmas having been cancelled for us this year, we have been ploughing our way through various cinematic versions of seasonal old favourites (there's another clue) but now it is all over and there is no excuse for not going out in this bloody awful weather. It took a garage three days and a lot of money to supply my car with an MOT certificate, so now I have even fewer excuses to stay in.
Last night I was reminded how close to the edge I am when I knocked an unopened bottle of wine into the sink where the bottom smashed, spilling the lot into dirty washing-up water. I had a mini-breakdown.
Still, look on the bright side - at least it all went straight down the drain and not all over the floor.
Always look on the bright side of life....
ReplyDeleteCue whistling…
DeleteYou got it!
DeleteSung at my best friends funeral at his request, led by his children, along with 350 others in beautiful field.
As for the photo
ReplyDeleteI absolutely have no idea !
Xx
You recognise the lamp shade though…
DeleteOh yes..IKEA now Habitat of old
DeleteI am loving Round the World in 80 days too and also on BBC 4 tonight they have begun Michael Palin's version - must be old because it is a young Palin but I enjoyed episode one of that too.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the wine.
It's spilt milk, Weave.
DeleteThe picture looks like a still from a ghost story, or Father Time without a sythe. the full moon (your 70s shade) and a woman in a driza bone mac. Your sink must be hard to break a wine bottle.
ReplyDeleteIt is a still from the worst version of A Christmas Carol. Strangely, the wine bottle fell into a soft plastic basin inside the hard ceramic Belfast sink. God knows what happened.
DeleteMy car needs our version of a MOT certificate, and I have spent a lot of money making it fit to pass, or so they tell me.
ReplyDeleteI have taught myself not to doubt car mechanics for my own peace of mind.
DeleteI see a creepy picture with a man/boy looking like a lost soul. A creepy picture and a lost bottle of wine. All very grim.
ReplyDeleteIt's one version of A Christmas Carol.
DeleteI watched a strange small film on Iplayer called - The Stigma yesterday. It centred on Avebury stones and a ghost being released, it was very bloody. Sad about the bottle of wine disappearing down the sink but less clearing up.
ReplyDeleteIs it worth watching? I don't know how I would have reacted if it had landed on the floor, but it would not have been pretty.
DeleteNo it has that 1970s bad timing and naivety and too much blood!
DeleteI didn't realize that Christmas had been canceled for you. I'm sorry that you're struggling. This is a rough time of the year even without cancelled holidays, car bills, and spilt wine. We watched 'Unforgiveable' with Sandra Bullock last night.
