A true ghost story

When a young lad, my cousin was sent out on his bike on a dark Autumn night to buy some groceries from a nearby shop.

He was cycling home down a lonely road through the woods when he heard the sound of someone padding along behind him in the dark. Fearing that he was about to be attacked by someone or something, he leaned hard on the pedals and began cycling as fast as he could to get away, but to his horror the footsteps kept up with him, going faster and faster in the darkness.

He finally reached the safety of home and when he unloaded the groceries he saw that a loaf of sliced bread had opened itself on the rack over the back wheel, and the slices had fallen out one by one onto the road, making soft flopping sounds as they hit the tarmac.

  1. No! Jokes about using ones loaf l suppose! :).
Or 'On yer bike' or 'l spoke to soon'...! :).

Seriously though, l spent a lot of time on a
bike as a kid, loved it, went everywhere on me
bike..as a late teenager l progressed to road
racing, hand built Carlton, 10 speed Campagnolo
    gears..the business! Great fun..! :).

But l never carried groceries on it..if l'd
lost any of the bread whilst riding home,
Mum would have gotten into a right old 'FLAP'...! :).

  5. We used to put lollipop sticks in our spokes to make an engine noise.

  6. I was usually puffing too much to hear padding footsteps...
