A distanced conversation with an erstwhile drinking partner:
"Do you miss the pub?"
"Funnily enough, not as much as I thought I would."
"Just think of the money we've saved by staying out of it."
"I would have a lot of money now if I had not been going to pubs for the last 45 years."
"What would you do with all that money?"
"Err... spend it in the pub."
Ha - my Internet now works again (after more than a week waiting - after the promised installation, which did come one week later...).

Spending it on the pub is a thing we think very, very British - and so nice!
Better at the pub than the stock market, really pissed that up the wall this year.

ReplyDeleteWe miss the people watching entertainment of the pub. And a good pub lunch. We'll spend everything we've saved on eating out on eating out.
