From being mildly irritated by the diminutive bag of wind and blather, I am beginning to really admire and appreciate John Bercow. I will miss him when he is not longer shouting
OOOOOORRRRRDDDDERRRR! from his seat on the woolsack.
I would love to have seen Derek's apoplectic face tonight after he came home to find that Bercow - as predicted - has disallowed any further meaningful debate in the House on the subject which had already been exhaustively discussed last Saturday. Quite right.
Only another 10 years to go before it is all over.
By which time I expect to be pushing up daisies or a floating cloud in the sky.
ReplyDeleteMe too Weave, I think.
DeleteJB is a character like John Major, Michael Heseltine and Ken Clarke. I admire them for being pro Europe.
ReplyDeleteI admire them for more than that, but - having been released from the party line - they can afford to be.
DeleteNobody did more for the Good Friday Agreement than John Major. I am dyed in the wool Labour but I admire them all.
DeleteLabour's Whatshername (she who used to call some old IRA members 'babe') did quite a lot too. It would be a shame if the G.F. agreement was torn up in favour of Boris Johnson's little un-formed plan to rule the world.
DeleteMo Mowlan. I always liked John Major. A very honest man he was.
DeleteThat's the one.
DeleteYour post sums it up really. It has reached a level where it is being treated as nothing but a joke.
ReplyDeleteYou've got to laugh, eh? Norman Wisdom thought so.
Deletejust so
ReplyDeleteSounds like Rudyard Kipling. His brother made exceedingly good cakes.
DeleteIt would have been helpful when I was working to have him as an example of how to chair difficult meetings. Thankfully, I don't need that any more.
ReplyDeleteI like that he is not pushed around by the bullies who are running Downing Street at the moment. I suppose I am always on the side of the little man.
DeleteJB can be very long-winded, but he's extremely knowledgeable and thorough; which I suppose is his job description.
ReplyDeleteAnd he loves the job.
DeleteActually, being retired and as it was pissing down all day, I didn't come home but sat there and tortured myself by watching it. You have to admire JB for the articulate way that he puts his points across, it's just a shame that he his so obviously biased towards Remainers. Like Rachel says, the whole thing is a joke now.
ReplyDeleteThe right wing always think Parliament and the BBC are biased toward the left (or whatever opposes their point of view) and the left wing always think the reverse.
DeleteBoth cannot be true. Isn't it about time that we appreciated our public servants a little more than we do? I say this with the obvious exception of the Metropolitan Police, who have - over these many years - proved themselves to be a bunch of institutionalised dimwits obsessed with their own paper-trails and how their records will affect their pensions.
