I like antique silver too

I worked for Arnold (Lord) Weinstock shortly after Jacob recorded this interview. I restructured GEC for him.

Well, that's not strictly true. I restored an intricate grotto at Bowden Park, Lacock, after it was damaged by the notorious hurricane of the 1980s which Michael Fish said was a myth before it hit.

In one way we both have something in common. We both make money from national disasters, but he - obviously - made more than me.

  1. Ah but you didn't cause the hurricane that did the damage in order to capitalise upon it.

    1. No, that was done by a butterfly flapping its wings in the Brazilian rain forest.

  2. I must admit to having bought my first shares whilst still at school, but no-one took a photo of the transaction.

    1. Your father wasn't editor of The Times, though.

  3. I have an oil painting that Arnie did not think was worth sending to The auction house. For that I love it even more.

    1. I think you might have to add a bit of detail to this for anyone to understand it.

    2. My Dad worked for the GEC and we aquired a painting from a bunch that were, at the time, surplus to the GEC's requirements.
      Provenance a touch difficult.

  4. Rees mogg is a disgrace
I heard him belittle and mock a urology consultant on LBC this morning for arguing against brexit

  5. When you look at mogg's father's writings...son has profited from following that.
