Widdy

I'm still revelling in re-finding the long lost photos. This one is of Widdy, the cat with an identical twin brother who bullied him mercilessly at night. Widdy was a gentle giant who did not seem to have a scrap of aggression in him.

He spent the nights hiding from his brother, so he spent the days sleeping on my lap in the workshop. This was not good for my productivity.

I only discovered his brother when arriving at the workshop one Sunday to find what appeared to be Widdy eating at his bowl, but the cat looked very alarmed when H.I. and I walked in. The cat made a dash for the exit, bumping into H.I.'s legs on the way out. This instantly explained Widdy's strange behaviour, such as following me around like a dog during the day.

Poor Widdy. I miss him.

  1. Was he only a "workshop cat"? Did he come home with you? -Jenn

  2. He arrived one day at the workshop and stayed. It would not have been good for him in our town flat.

  3. I felt the same about our farm cats - I left them both at the farm as they were not indoor cats - now one of them has disappeared - the other seems to be managing alone although they have not been separated since birth twelve years ago.

    1. I know someone who keeps cats indoors all day. It's not a good life.

  5. The best cats are the ones that find us; never the other way around.

  8. What a gorgeous cat. I'll bet Widdy's fur was very soft.

  9. Even an old photo shows his velvety coat and paws. I'm not so much a cat person but I see he was handsome.
