My sister passed her driving test very late in life but, once she had, she got away from her family on warm Summer nights by climbing into her car and driving aimlessly in the dark around the Wiltshire lanes and roads, listening to this full blast on the car's sound system.
The world's first disco music was the perfect night driving music for Toni. I miss her.
My sister was twenty two years older than me and my brother was eleven years older than me (same parents) so both have been dead for some years. So many things remind me of them and I miss them every day Tom - but they are happy memories. I hope yours are too. xx
The sister who shared my birthday, I believe. Or was it the very British ancestral last name? A big sister. I miss my little brother. Good times. Good memories. How nice you were friends, too.
She sounds like a true free spirit, driving at night with the radio blasting.
I wish my sister had not married a jerk, so that we could still hang out together and make another car trip on the Tamiami Trail across Florida. We go with Cher on CD.
Xx

ReplyDeleteThey are indeed Weave - well, most of them. This sister was not too kind to me when I was a kid, but she made up for it later.
DeleteYou do?
ReplyDeleteI do what?
DeleteWhat you said you do. Was she the Jehovah's Witness?
DeleteNo.
DeleteWhen, a few minutes ago, I saw your header over at John's, glancing at his blog list, I said out loud: OH MY GOD.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Tom. Your sister won't know ... so wonderful for her to be missed. I miss my sister(s) too. They are both still alive.
Touched,
U
Remember Lenny Bruce. Remember his demise. Study how it happened.

ReplyDeleteI can't remember her birthday. Cox.
DeleteMy clever cousin was murdered; I still miss him terribly.
ReplyDeleteDonna Summer records are so very good. Toni sounded pretty darn good, too. xx
ReplyDeleteSiblings can be rough on each other when growing up, but we realize and treasure our connection when we become adults - except when we don’t.
