Looking for something else, I re-found this picture of my parents wedding day in 1940s London. No honeymoon. I think he went straight back to the bombers. She might have - briefly - resumed her career as a model, but not for long.
My father kept his RAF moustache right the way through my early childhood, so it never occurred to me that it was an Adolf Hitler type one and not the classic 'handlebar'!
They look a happy couple.

DeleteYou look like your Dad and I like your mum's hat ..... I think all of our parents weddings looked very similar. .... not as lavish as weddings today. I think I've got some bills of my mum and dads wedding somewhere, which was very modest. XXXX
ReplyDeleteI think the only other person there was the one who took the photo.
DeleteThere were some right dragons in my people's wedding pix!
ReplyDeleteLet's see.
DeleteThey look happy and beautiful. My fother still have the same moustache and he is 94.
ReplyDeleteWhat shape is it?
DeleteThey looked happy.
ReplyDeleteThey ended up happy but there was a long bit in the middle when they were not.
DeletePresumably you get your good looks from your mother (only imagining then as I have never seen you either in a photograph or in 'the flesh'. !)
ReplyDeleteI have seen a picture of Tom, with a tweed fedora and his coat lapels high. I can say with authority, though, he inherited his father's chin and nose.
DeleteI inherited his entire body and now I am paying for it.
DeleteYour father is just beaming with happiness! That is great! Having been around long enough, I have seen the various pictures of you that you have posted. A long time ago you posted a close-up of your mothers face. I said back then that I thought you had her eyes.
ReplyDeleteI have my father's bags though.
DeleteSo glad you found the photo, Tom. It's lovely. Put it in pride of place.
ReplyDeleteIt's in a box!
DeleteI will reply to all individually later - I have just got in and am now cooking!
ReplyDeleteSuffice to say that they may not be as happy as they look in the photo, for reasons which I may or may not divulge if I think it appropriate/inappropriate/decent behaviour.
Things are seldom as they seem from the outside.
I like that comment.(what are you cooking?).
ReplyDeleteA lamb casserole...
DeleteYou eat late
DeleteTea time for me is beer time.
DeleteWere you adopted?
ReplyDeleteCooking after a day at work? well done.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't, we would either starve or live on porridge with salad.
